Body Wellness
As we all know about wellness in terms of exercise, diet and nutrition. What about your body skincare routine ?
Personally, I’ve been always about facial care and investing in that for many years, but my body skincare routine? Honestly not the first thing in my shopping list. What I have discovered, it’s more than just a body wash them smells exhilarating or trendy.
Your body skincare is just as important as the face! Some people experience body acne, like myself after my first born. Acne btw is the most challenging skin condition. You have try many different products to see what works for your type of acne. Studying as a facial specialist, I learned it can be caused by internal or external reasons.
There are many reasons and causes and always recommend speaking with your doctor or dermatologist before a treatment.
Acne causes stem from multiple factors that affect the skin’s oil glands and hair follicles. The primary causes include:
Excess Sebum Production: Overactive oil glands produce too much sebum, which can clog pores.
Clogged Hair Follicles: Dead skin cells accumulate and mix with sebum, blocking pores and creating an environment for bacteria.
Bacterial Growth: Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) bacteria multiply in clogged pores, leading to inflammation and pimples.
Hormonal Changes: Fluctuations in hormones, especially during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, or stress, increase sebum production.
Diet: Certain diets high in refined sugars or dairy products may contribute to acne in some individuals.
Medications: Some drugs, including corticosteroids and lithium, can trigger or worsen acne.
Stress: Increased stress levels can worsen acne by influencing hormone levels.
Genetics: Family history plays a role in susceptibility to acne.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to pollution, humidity, or harsh skincare products can contribute to acne development.
My focus has been lately, trying to advoid the prescription route internally, and focus on products for my daily routine externally.
Some of my body skin concerns are brighter skin, firmness and minimizing body acne. I focus on exfoliation, that helps remove dead skin cells and help with cell turnover, which helps skin restore and have brighter result. You can exfoliate manually like a body scrub, or use a cleanser with active ingredients that also exfoliate by applying directly to skin to give a “glow”.
What is Cell turnover?
Cell turnover: is when old skin cells fall off and new ones take their place. This keeps skin healthy and glowing by removing dead cells that make skin look dull or rough. Skin usually renews every 28 to 40 days, but age, lifestyle, and skincare affect this speed. Helping cell turnover with exfoliation, good hydration, and healthy eating can make skin clearer, reduce fine lines, and keep skin vibrant. In makeup and hair services, knowing about cell turnover helps create smooth skin and a healthy scalp for better, longer-lasting results.
Some ingredients that help are enzymes, niacinamide, and vitamin C that you can find in many body products.
I also only use products that are hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic ( meaning , doesn’t clog the pores) sometimes shea butter isn’t the best move haha as I used to use, it does hydrate! but it also clogs the pores, and when you have body acne that’s the last thing I want to do.
I also advoid sulfates and parabens.
You may have to invest more into a body wash or lotion, but you may spend that money on a good cafe experience these days haha, so I chose my battles and it’s always the wellness that wins!
Here are some of my favorite products for my body care regimen. Remember skin routines work, but it does take time to see results and everyone is different, also try to be consistent.
Cheers, Vali.

The future of aI and beauty
In recent years, the beauty industry has witnessed remarkable advancements in AI and technology. From skincare to makeup, innovative solutions are emerging that are transforming the way we perceive and experience beauty. One such groundbreaking development is the use of AI-powered technology in foundation matching, which promises to revolutionize the beauty industry. In this blog post, we will explore the exciting future of beauty products, focusing on how AI and technology are reshaping the way we find the perfect foundation to match our skin tone.
1. The Challenge of Foundation Matching:
Finding the right foundation shade that seamlessly blends with our skin tone has always been a daunting task. Countless hours spent swatching different shades on our wrists and faces have often led to frustration and disappointment for some. If not a trained professional , people have a lot of trouble with finding the correct shade match.
2. AI's Role in Foundation Matching:
Artificial Intelligence has paved the way for innovative solutions in foundation matching. Advanced algorithms analyze vast amounts of data, including skin tone, undertones, and texture, to provide personalized recommendations.
3. Virtual Try-Ons and Augmented Reality:
Gone are the days of guessing how a foundation shade will look on your skin. Thanks to augmented reality (AR) technology, virtual try-ons have become a reality. By using your smartphone or computer camera, you can now virtually apply different foundation shades and see how they look in real-time. I’ve personally tried this technology in retail stores, and was quite impressed with the shade recommendation results.
4. Personalized Beauty Experiences:
AI and technology enable beauty brands to offer personalized beauty experiences like never before. By leveraging user data and AI algorithms, brands can customize foundation recommendations based on individual preferences, skin type, and environmental factors.
5. Skin Analysis and Data-driven Solutions:
AI-powered skin analysis tools are becoming increasingly popular in the beauty industry. These tools use advanced imaging techniques to assess skin conditions such as texture, pores, and pigmentation. By analyzing this data, beauty brands can develop targeted foundation products that address specific skin concerns, providing not only coverage but also skincare benefits, it’s like having a makeup professional and esthetician on-demand!
6. Ethical Considerations:
As with any technology, it is important to address ethical considerations surrounding AI-powered beauty products. Transparency in data collection and usage, as well as ensuring diversity and inclusivity in skin tone representation, are crucial factors that need to be prioritized. Beauty brands must strive to create AI systems that are fair, unbiased, and inclusive for all users, but privacy , data collection and permissions may be a concern for some.
Final Thoughts:
By embracing AI and technology, both beauty brands and consumers can embark on a journey towards a more inclusive, personalized, and exciting beauty experience. Let's embrace this future where beauty truly knows no boundaries.
What is hair texture?
Did you know that curly hair textures can have sometimes 5 types of curl patterns on one scalp!? Well it’s true !
Also texture is not defined by race, it is defined by DNA , that’s right ! In society it’s usually defined my race or a majority of people who have similar hair textures and grouped together. In reality it’s just texture rather it’s fine or curly, textures can vary all across the world in different races/nationality.
People as humans feel more comfortable identifying what is familiar to them mostly right? It’s easier to understand and for business easier to market.
Also with styling products, chemical treatments we can also alter , or change the texture temporarily to meet our desires, some desire straight , or curly or a different color , the range is limitless these days.
Texture is texture , it can range from person to person based on genetics, environment, and many other factors , no matter what your texture is fine - straight , wavy- curly , loose curl- tight curls , whatever your texture is, hair is one accessory we can have fun with and there are so many products and styling for everyone to enjoy!. DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.

Battle of the #1 concealer
Have you noticed the increase of concealer products or brands?!
I get it , we look tired lol the work- life balance is REAL, lol
but seriously with so many formulas , brands and benefits which is the next #1 in the U.S? And most importantly which is best for me you might ask?
We’ll much like myself I love a great concealer! Especially when we was wearing masks 247 more attention was on the eye area right ?
Besides that , I love good eye brightening effect , hydrating benefits with of course undetectable coverage! A lot of brands to choose from right ? I know NARS and Tarte when I worked at Ulta was in major competition trending both #1 in the U.S with shade range to price point, this was around 2018 .
Presently we have a lot of other new cosmetic brand s emerging from hybrid formula ( makeup & skincare mixed ) celebrity brands , and vegan and clean ! That’s a lot of options for your consumer , my question is “what is the best concealer !?” I feel it’s different for everyone needs and skin type and your desires right ? Some want light coverage, others heavy, others might desire hydration and brightness with a tint of color … we have a lot of options! What brand will be #1 ? I encourage everyone to try different brands and see what works best for you!
Shopping Tips:
1.Try before you buy! - swatch a sample of a tester to see the shade match your inner palm.( if available )
2. ASK for a sample ( ask a store representative )of the color you think is best to try at home.
3.Ask about the return policy, if you can return or exchange if not completely satisfied.

Beyonce hair care buzz
That’s right Beyoncé is buzzing the beehive about launching her own hair care line soon and I’m personally HERE FOR IT!
Not only is she a icon , she has a story behind the brand , her mom was a stylist , so she grew up watching her mom give hair services and being around the salon environment is something special , she desires to continue the legacy inspired by her moms passion and creativity. Now that’s what I call smart and also keeping that family first and generational wealth!
Let’s talk a bit about business and cosmetic economics, did you know that women in particular are a focus consumer as we spend the most dollars on cosmetics products? Well you might have lol but with that being said with Beyoncé influence and story telling behind the brand will def be a successful launch! Will she have a clean beauty ? Vegan ? Or more focus on science of non-organic chemistry? What stores will cary her products? I can only imagine the battle of the distributors offering to carry in-store!
Whatever it will be she will have the best of the best in production team working to be sure it delivers quality and luxury! And I am here for it! Beyoncé is loved by all texture and tones of people I’m sure it will have something for every hair type.

Safety First: Creators During Pandemic
Good day,
A lot has happened with how we do business with clients during a pandemic from the shutdown, to new regulations for businesses.
Being a cosmetologist and MUA we faced some real challenges. First well we can’t do any services with a mask on a client except hair of course ( even with strict guidelines ) but makeup artistry was not happening. A lot of stores was not offering makeup services, and there was no safe way before the vaccine to perform or offer this type of services.
To date , a lot have regulations have changed based on states and we can now offer these services again. Wearing a mask is optional for fully vaccinated persons is in most places optional. (depending on state regulations) We have face shields, tests and mask , social distance to help assist and prevent the spread.
I chose to have the vaccine for the safety of my family and clients. I encourage all professionals to know their status and ask if their client is fully vaccinated ( most people just tell you freely) or have a waiver form to ask these type of questions before performing a service and get a signature.
Be Safe & Create!

Lesson 01: Preparing for Client
“Always better to be over-prepared than under!” - Vali
I had a project and I packed everything from eye palettes to lipsticks, bold, neutral, matte , gloss!
It was one client but I wasn’t sure of her vibe since it was our first time working together, so I packed my MAC travel luggage and made sure I had EVERYTHING lol. After I unpacked and consulted I discovered this client desired a classic look, no glitter and she preferred cream eye shadows, specifically matte. Luckily I did have my Danessa Myricks cream matte in “Latte” and she LOVED it. I used it for her eyes and cheeks. Focused on nice complexion, glowing even tone skin. Added some detail eye liner and lashes and she was so happy!
I say that to end with , I over packed! But I had just what might client wanted ! And she was happy and satisfied with my services, this should be the goal! You have to understand everyone is different and has their own goals and what them feel confident and beautiful! You as the creator should always remember to consult your client, have patience and offer them options! Shows your level of professionalism & expertise:)
Keep Creating !
